I was SO disappointed in this product, especially after all the positive reviews on the Brookstone website (but NOW I understand why so many positive reviews; they have refused to post my negative one!!! Beware, they are editing out the poor reviews!). The item has been returned and I have taken the slides to a professional to scan and save. The device set up easily enough, but when it "captured" the slide images, it lost all the brilliant color and detail. A toy donkey with rich browns and bright red saddle became a ghostly white figure with no saddle in sight! Amazingly POOR reproduction. Adjusting to the darkest setting did not help. Using photoshop later on the computer restored some of the color, but not the lost detail.
On top of this, technical support was non-existent. Although I called both the Brookstone 800 number and a Brookstone store, I was never able to talk to anyone who had used this product. All they could do was to read to me from the manual, which a friend and I had totally dissected trying to find a solution. I wanted so badly for this product to work. Now I am in a position where I would be unlikely to buy another Brookstone-brand product. And since they are revealed as not posting any negative reviews for their products, I am unlikely to patronize them ever again, Brookstone product or other manufacturer.
